Sea Life Kansas City has eleven exhibits showcasing thousands of different sea creatures, an interactive rock pool, and a virtual underwater tunnel. You can also take part in educational talks to learn more about the animals. SEA LIFE Kansas City has great family entertainment options, including a feeding frenzy and quiz trail.
If you have little ones in tow, the aquarium has a great activity trail for kids. The ocean tunnel allows you to experience life in the ocean from every angle, and you can touch sharks and rescued sea turtles. The aquarium has over 5,000 different creatures, and pre-booking is highly recommended.
The Titanic, the world's largest ship, sank on April 15, 1912. The tragedy changed the world's faith in modern technology. One hundred years after the ship hit the iceberg, SEA LIFE Kansas City will honor the loss of this ship with a special exhibit. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition will showcase 300 legendary artifacts recovered from the wreckage.
In February, a young green sea turtle named Gertrude moved into the main Ocean Tank. The young turtle was rescued from a Florida aquarium, where it was catching fish and breaking its front flippers. Her front flippers were fractured and she was unable to swim fast enough to escape predators. As a result, Gertrude will never return to the ocean.
Nearby Legoland and Sea Life Kansas City are two attractions that can be fun for children and adults. While Legoland is not suited for little ones, adults can enjoy the Miniland section of Legoland, which features miniature versions of twenty major landmarks in Kansas City. It also has a Wizard of Oz display.
Kids will enjoy the shipwreck room, themed after the famous movie Finding Nemo. Children can also marvel at the Underwater Tunnel, where they can watch jellyfish changing colors. The tunnel is also a good place to view moray eels and sharks. Lastly, kids can play on the bubble tank. Additional Info
In addition to the ocean and shark exhibits, SEA LIFE Kansas City has an amphitheater, conference center, and museum complex. The Center offers educational experiences for children of all ages, and admission is free. Most events and exhibits are free. You can also see the Ewing and Muriel Kauffman Memorial Garden, which is a part of the Kauffman Foundation.
